Exploring the life experiences of stroke survivors in Nigeria using the interpretive phenomenological analysis

Abstract Background The consequence of living as a stroke survivor has received significant attention in literature from different parts the world. Enriching social relations and other factors are reported to influence post-stroke experience. Differences health systems, cultural available resources have made it apt explore experience life after Nigerian survivors. This study explored lived experiences adult survivors, with focus on their concerns, hopes, dreams daily routine experiences. Methods qualitative employed phenomenological approach based in-depth interviews Interpretative analysis was used analyse exploration personal these survivors meanings they attached that Results participants this described experiences, emphasising both visible loss mobility emotional issues related condition. Three superordinate themes were identified: (1) presentation; (2) affect, coping, adaptation; (3) supports. Conclusion concluded is unique blend supportive non-supportive care scenarios, which greatly associated environmental intrinsic variables. Post-stroke strongly influences overall
